DIY Wood Floor Cleaner

This spring has has been tough on our wood floor. Pets, kids, husband, mud, water, snow, need I say more?

I have always made my own floor cleaning solutions in the past, but today I needed to give the floor a little extra TLC with added olive oil.

Why make your own solution? It’s more affordable, you can make your home smell anyway you want, and its safer for little ones and furry friends.

Homemade Wood Floor Cleaner

Simple and effective cleaning solution for wooden floors.

Materials

  • 1/3 Cup White Vinegar
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 TBSP Castile Soap (a good smelling one) Dr. Bronner's
  • 1 TBS Lemon Juice
  • 1 TSP Olive Oil

Instructions

  • Gently mix all ingredients together in a bowl or mop bucket.
  • I used a funnel to pour the solution into a spray bottle, but you can also keep it in a mop bucket.
  • Spray on your clean from debris (swept) floor or use a wash cloth to apply the solution.
  • Let it sit for about a minute and mop or hand wash your floor.

Notes

The oil separates. so if you are using a spray bottle swirl the solution before spraying.
Worried about a slippery floor? Skip the oil.
