Archer and Zowie

For the last few weeks, I have been reading aloud Archer and Zowie from Hans Bluedorn.
In this cute story, the author takes kids through the life and imaginary word of the two main characters Archer and Zowie. They travel through space in their homemade ship and meet funny creatures and see amazing things.
My 5-year-old daughter thought these characters were a riot. She was impressed by their knowledge and the journeys they took. She was curious about many things throughout the book and wanted to discuss what was going on. We often would read a chapter and discuss what happened and our thoughts on the matter. She wondered if they were really taking trips or if they were playing pretend, she would ask me many questions about the creatures they encountered, and couldn’t wait for the next illustrations to get a better idea of what was going on.
I’m not a huge book reader. I feel like reading books are a waste of my time, but I know that children need books to grow their imaginations, to build their magnificent brains, and that they flourish when spending this kind of quality time with someone that loves them. So with that in mind, I like finding shorter easier to read books that my kinds and I can enjoy together and this is one of them.
Archer and Zowie has less than 250 pages, the words are nicely spaced, and is broken up into 18 chapers! This is the kind of book I like to look for! I don’t worry about falling asleep before finishing the chapter. Thank you Hans Bluedorn for writing a clever book that interesting and not time too consuming!
If you have a young reader or are looking for a new book to read with your kids, this might be a great option for you! It’s not educational, but it’s entertaining and gives kids an opportunity to escape the real world for a while.
