Farmyard Faith

If you like reading Christian nonfiction in your homeschool, you’ll want to check out Farmyard Faith from Whatsoever Stories.
It’s a lovely book filled with stories about the author’s childhood experiences of life on a farm. Through a span of ten years, she undergoes many hectic events that shape her knowledge and give her insight into biblical truths.
Each chapter discusses a unique situation that she, Kinsey Rockett, and her family had to overcome. From raising honey bees to putting out fires, fellow farmers can surely relate to some of the challenges, but all readers can enjoy learning about life on the Rockett family farm.
Almost every chapter ends with a biblical reflection. Kinsey writes about how the situation is related to scriptures and what we can learn from it.

How our family used it
This book was a wonderful book to read as a family. We read one chapter every night together before bed. It provided a great opportunity to talk about farm life and discuss what we learned from scriptures.
This book is geared towards people 10 and up. However, I read this book with my three and six-year-olds and they were able to sit still long enough to finish a chapter each night. I like to think they were able to understand what was going on in the story and could benefit from it. My six-year-old would ask questions and seemed to enjoy the book.
My Thoughts
I love spending quality time with my family reading books that enrich our lives, and this book fit the Bill. It’s written in a way that we all can relate and enjoy the stories.
This book would be perfect for homeschoolers who live on a farm or are interested in farming! It would be a great story for older kids, teens, adults, or as a read aloud for families.
