Simple and Fun Food for kids
Here is a list of some QUICK and EASY recipes to hopefully give you a lunch/snack idea.
I often find myself wondering what I can whip up when its almost meltdown time. If you need to find something ASAP to feed your little monsters or in my case cats (I guess they are cats today), than this is for you.
Pizza Bagels
Prep Time 5 minutes mins
Cook Time 10 minutes mins
Total Time 15 minutes mins
Servings 1 Person
Ingredients
- 1 Bagel
- 2 TBSP Sauce pizza, marinara, spaghetti…
- 2 TBSP Cheese Mozzarella, cheddar…
Optional Toppings
- Peperoni
- Sausage
- Spinach
- Pineapple 🙂
- Anything
Instructions
- 1: Cut your bagels in half if they are not already precut.
- 2: Spread the sauce.
- 3: Add the cheese and toppings.
- 4: Bake in oven or toaster oven at 400° for about 10 min or until golden brown.
- 5: Let cool and serve!
Finger Food Plate.
There is nothing wrong with a fruit and nut plate! This is what my husband does for the kids and they love it. He simply makes a plate of snacks. Cut up some fruit, slice veggies, add nuts, maybe have a side of peanut butter to dip in. Crackers and cheese.
Lunch Roll

Course lunch
Servings 1 Person
Ingredients
- 1 Wrap or soft Tortilla
- 2 TBSP Cream Cheese
- 1/3 Cup Salad greens, kale, carrots
- 1 Slice Cheese, or 1/4 shredded cheese
- 2 Slices Lunch meat
Instructions
- 1: Lay out your wrap and spread cream cheese on half of the wrap getting close to the edge.
- 2: Lay out your choice of fillings. Use what you have available and be creative! One next to the other. Careful not to overfill.
- 3: Carefully roll it up, ending with the cream cheese so that it holds together nicely.
- 4: Cut into pieces about an inch wide and serve.
Green Smoothie
Simple Smoothie to nourish your body.
Equipment
- Blender
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Spinach
- 1 Banana fresh or frozen
- 1 Cup Mango and or Pineapple Frozen and peeled
- 1 Cup Yogurt Greek for more protein
- 1 Cup Milk or Juice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Add more liquid if needed and enjoy!
Notes
Chia seeds, Flax seeds, berries, or any other fruit can be added for more flavors and nutrition.

Peanut Butter Banana Chocolate Treats
These are a healthy treat for kiddos. Well maybe not the chocolate coating, but its perfect for a special treat.
Course Snack, treat
Ingredients
- 1 Banana
- 2 TBSP Peanut Butter
- 1 TBSP Coconut Oil
- 2 TBSP Chocolate Chips
Instructions
- Peel, and slice banana into 1/4 inch pieces.
- Spread peanut butter on half of the banana pieces and top it with the other half of banana pieces. Do not worry if it looks messy it will turn out great.
- In a pan, warm up coconut oil and chocolate chips on low. Stirring consistently until they melt together. Careful not to burn it!
- On a silicone baking mat, drizzle the melted chocolate over the banana sandwiches.
- Freeze for at least 20 minutes. The inside will still be soft but the coating should be hard around 20 minutes -My preference. Freeze longer for frozen bites all the way through.
- Serve and enjoy!

Quesadilla
Cheese, Chicken, Steak whatever you want to add in here is good.
Course lunch, Snack
Ingredients
- 2 Wraps or tortillas
- 1/2 Cup Shredded cheese of choice Cheddar, Muenster, mozzarella
- 2 TBSP Olive Oil
Optional Fillings
- Shredded and cooked chicken
- thinly sliced and cooked steak
- Cooked and peeled Shrimp
- Black Beans
- Peppers
Optional Toppings
- Greens Salad, Spring Mix, Spinach, Kale
- Sour Cream
- Guacamole
- Salsa
Instructions
- Add olive oil and heat Skillet, pan, or Quesadilla maker on medium.
- When hot, place a tortilla wrap on the pan. Start adding the cheese and fillings.
- Add a little more cheese and top with another tortilla. By this time your bottom layer should be firming up and golden brown.
- With a turner, Flip the quesadilla to cook the other side and wait about 2 more minutes or until firm and golden brown.
- Serve on a plate with your desired topping and cut in 4-8 pieces.

One pot, Macaroni and Cheese
This is literally just macaroni and cheese but you can't serve just that for a complete meal. So add some protein and fiber with veggies and beans.
Course lunch
Ingredients
- 1 box macaroni and cheese make according to directions on box
- 2 Cups Vegetables (pea's, carrots, corn, salad greens, broccoli, or a mix) frozen or fresh
- 1 can beans garbanzo, lentil or black beans
Optional
- 8 oz Cut up pieces of meat bacon, chicken, steak, fish
- Extra cheese
Instructions
- Make your mac and cheese according to the package
- While still piping hot, through in your veggies and mix until cooked (depending on the size you may still need to heat the pan on low)
- Add your beans and/or meat.
- Sprinkle extra cheese on top and serve!

Fruit and Yogurt
Through some yogurt in a bowl and add some fruit. Pretty simple…Top it with some granola or oatmeal and now its a parfait! lol
Make Your Own Pizza
Hey… this is an activity and a lunch! BONUS: When they make their own they are less likely to complain about it 🙂
Ingredients
- 1 soft tortilla or wrap
- 2 TBSP sauce pizza, marinara, pasta, or tomato
- 1/4 cup shredded cheese mozzarella, cheddar, mix
- favorite toppings
Instructions
- lay out the tortilla on a plate or pan.
- spread sauce with a spoon.
- sprinkle cheese.
- add toppings
- bake at 400° for about 10-15 minutes or put in a toaster oven. Keep an on it!
- When cheese is melted remove from oven and let cool.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Kids love making their own pizza and this is a quick and easy way to just let them be creative and take the lead.

Healthy Homemade Jello
This is an easy recipe made with natural ingredients!
Course Dessert
Equipment
- mold
- pan
Ingredients
- 4 Cups Juice Any flavor or mix
- 2 TBS Maple Syrup
- 2 TBS Gelatin
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat your juice on medium heat until it is hot.
- Step 2: Add maple syrup, sweetener of choice, or omit and skip to the next step.
- Step 3: Add the gelatin gradually and stir continuously until it is dissolved.
- Step 4: Pour into a mold or dish and add fruit or berries (if desired).
- Step 5: Refrigerate for about 2 hours or until firm.
- Step 6: Remove from mold and enjoy!
Notes
You can use a 8″ mold, cups, ice cube tray, or a set of little molds.

My girls enjoy making quesadillas, too. Some meat and cheese on the tortialls, browned in the skillet, and then dipped in greek yogurt and salsa. They love it.
