Thankful Thursday

“I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart. I will tell of all your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in you. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.”Psalms‬ ‭9:1-2‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Good morning!

I don’t know about you, but I need to get out of the bad habit of thinking about the things that I don’t have. Everywhere I look I see nice vehicles, fancy clothes, gorgeous houses with well kept yards, and smiling families enjoying the day. When I notice the things they have that I don’t, I start to imagine how their lives must be easier, happier, and better than mine.

These kinds of thoughts are like weeds in a garden. They can grow and spread fast, overcrowding and covering up the wonderful plants that we want to thrive. The ones we truly long for with the sweetest berries and fragrant flowers that bring so many people Joy. We need to weed out our gardens of invasive and thorny thoughts, so that we can care for and help the good ones grow.

What I’m trying to say is that we need to appreciate what we have so that we don’t lose sight of the blessings that we were given. If we are truly grateful for all the good and wonderful things in our life, it won’t matter what anyone else has. We would be too busy thanking God for what we have.

As we start the day, let’s praise God for everything he has done in our lives. Whether it’s a great relationship that many people pray for, a healthy body that you can use, a family that cares for each other, or even water to quench your thirst, let’s give thanks to Him. We don’t need more things to be happy, we only need more gratitude for what we have and the faith that God will give us what we need.

Have a great day!
