Art for Children, Building a Visual Vocabulary from Artistic Pursuits Inc. makes art instruction a breeze and is so enjoyable.

This Curriculum teaches vocabulary, art history, techniques, and how to apply what was learned to an art piece. To my surprise, it is not complex or lengthy. In my opinion, Artistic Pursuits Inc created a perfect balance between the information being taught and creating the art piece.

Art for Children, Building a Visual Vocabulary is the first book of the art history set. This elementary art curriculum includes 18 projects of both text and video lessons. It uses famous art pieces as examples for discussions on art vocabulary. It’s written in a way that’s easy to follow and it guides the students into making their unique art pieces.

I love the content being taught and the way children are encouraged to use their own ideas instead of replicating what they see. The children actually have to come up with art pieces by using what they see in their homes or from experiences that they had. This way kids will be interested in what they are creating and will put the time and effort into making it. All art pieces will be unique and special to them.

She chose to make a Warthog of all the 4 legged creatures!

What gem this curriculum is!

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the art projects and I loved the valuable lessons that were taught. If you are looking for an art curriculum that teaches art history and vocabulary definitely get this! Actually, I would suggest getting the whole set of books so your child can get the full art history lesson.
