Beyond the Stick Figure

Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way.

I was excited to receive Beyond the Stick Figure Complete Drawing Course PLUS 3 Bonus Courses from Beyond the Stick Figure Art School because I love art and it’s an important part of our homeschool.

This program is an online class that can be taken as a family or independently. Students have the flexibility to take the class daily, weekly, or anytime they want to. For us, we would complete one or two lessons a day around 3 to 5 times a week.

Parents are encouraged to let their kids make their art pieces without any suggestions. That was the hardest part for me! I am always butting in and trying to give helpful pointers but I am glad I watched the short video for parents and let my child do her artwork.

Supplies are required for this class. For the drawing course, Prismacolor Markers and sketchpad are needed. Additional art supplies are required for the other courses. In my opinion the Prismacolor Markers are expensive and any kind of marker would work for this class especially for younger students. However I do understand why Sally (the teacher) would want everyone to have professional high-quality materials for the best results. She also did an excellent job teaching the importance of putting the cap back on properly.

My daughter enjoys the videos and looks forward to learning in this art class. We have completed part 1 of 3 in the drawing class. It starts with basic shapes and lines and gradually becomes more complex. This makes it perfect for any age and artistic level.

I looked over the next courses and we will try them out when the drawing course is complete. The Pen and Ink, Watercolor, Acrylic, and 3D Design courses are structured similarly to the drawing course. Each course is divided into 2 to 3 parts with multiple topics (clips to watch) and followed by a “How am I doing?” section.

These art courses are a great option for homeschooling families looking for a structured art class to add to their day. If you are interested in this class be sure to read all the reviews from more homeschool families by clicking below and check out the Beyond the Stick Figure Art School website.

As always, thank you for reading my review!

Thank you for the review. We love to make our students happy, so here are some tweaks we have made based on recent reviews:
    1. All course videos are open and do not require sequential completion–although we still recommend it.
    2. We contacted Vimeo and they have improved the video experience by installing volume control and full screen options on all videos.
    3. We added more options to drawing part 2 to help it move along more quickly for younger students.
