Easter week Resurrection eggs

Tomorrow is Palm Sunday and I want to do something a little different and exciting for my kids.

Instead of getting wrapped up in Easter Eggs and Bunnies, I want to share the sacrifice and love of Christ.

I decided that I am going to print out Bible verses of events that led up to the resurrection of Jesus. As a type of resurrection egg hunt with a daily Bible study.

Each day this week I will put scriptures in an egg and hide it. When the egg is found we will read the note and discuss what was going on during that time.

To further grasp the scripture, I would like to do a fun craft or activity built around what we read.

If you would like to join or do something similar, feel free to use the verses below.

(I use the WEB version as it’s the only one I can find that I can freely use with copyright laws. Feel free to read along in your favorite version.)

Day 1: Palm Sunday

“The disciples went, and did just as Jesus commanded them, and brought the donkey and the colt, and laid their clothes on them; and he sat on them. A very great multitude spread their clothes on the road. Others cut branches from the trees, and spread them on the road. The multitudes who went in front of him, and those who followed, kept shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”” Matthew‬ ‭21:6-9‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 2: Money Changers

“They came to Jerusalem, and Jesus entered into the temple, and began to throw out those who sold and those who bought in the temple, and overthrew the money changers’ tables, and the seats of those who sold the doves. He would not allow anyone to carry a container through the temple. He taught, saying to them, “Isn’t it written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations?’ But you have made it a den of robbers!”” Mark‬ ‭11:15-17‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 3: Withered Fig Tree

“As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots. Peter, remembering, said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which you cursed has withered away.” Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and doesn’t doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says. Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them. Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your transgressions.”” Mark‬ ‭11:20-26‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 4:  Bearing Fruit

“Jesus answered them, “The time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Most certainly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John‬ ‭12:23-24‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 5: Passover Last Supper

“He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer, for I tell you, I will no longer by any means eat of it until it is fulfilled in God’s Kingdom.”” Luke‬ ‭22:15-16‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 6: Crucifixion

“It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” Having said this, he breathed his last.” Luke‬ ‭23:44-46‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 7: Securing the Tomb

“Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.” So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.” Matthew‬ ‭27:65-66‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Day 8: He Is Risen!

“The angel answered the women, “Don’t be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying. Go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.””‭‭ Matthew‬ ‭28:5-7‬ ‭WEB‬‬

Have a wonderful week!
