Baby Frozen Yogurt Melts
Ingredients
- 1 4 oz Jar of baby food puree (or 1/2 Cup of Homemade) Fruit and Berry Flavors are great.
- 1/2 Cup Greek Yogurt
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the puree and yogurt until well blended.
- Cover a baking sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Using a piping bag, a plastic bag with the corner cut out, or a baby spoon, add pea-sized drops of the mixture covering the entire sheet. (You'll want to give each drop a little space to prevent them from sticking together and to easily peel off.)
- Freeze for 1 hour.
- Peel and serve!
Tips:
Full-fat unsweetened Greek yogurt is recommended. However, you can use any yogurt. The thicker the yogurt, the creamier and less icy the will be. I used nonfat Chobani Greek yogurt for this batch and they are great.
Try different combinations of purees to make a variety of yummy flavors and colors for our baby to enjoy. We enjoy strawberry banana and apple blueberry.
Caution
These can be a choking hazard. Like all food, we should watch babies eat and only give them a few at a time. I also recommend waiting 30 seconds or so after taking them out of the freezer to allow them to soften up a little bit.
Got a constipated kiddo?
Try these yogurt bites with pumpkin or prune purée to help soften up their stool and get it moving.
Don’t want to make a ton of Frozen Yogurt Melts?
I like to make a sheet of these bites for baby, and use the rest to make a sheet of yogurt bark for the rest of us.
It’s easy!
Just spread the remaining yogurt mixture on parchment paper or a silicone mat. Add fruit, chocolate, sprinkles, or you name it, and freeze for at least an hour. Break apart and enjoy. Yum! However, they do melt quickly so eat them right away.
You can also use this yogurt mixture to make homemade pouches. I use this: Infantino Squeeze Station it’s quick and easy.
Storage
You can keep them on the sheet and peel them off as needed or store them in an air-tight container. I like to put them in an empty snack puff container so that I can easily pour a few of these bites onto the tray and return the rest to the freezer.
These keep well for about 10 days in the freezer.
