Reading Game Review

Disclosure: I received this product free through the Homeschool Review Crew.

As a huge fan of gameschooling and learning through play, I was super excited to receive The Reading Game, 2nd Edition from Allsaid & Duun, LLC.

The Reading Game is designed to help beginning readers learn how to read by playing a fun memory word game. After completing the game, children will know and recognize 180 words.

Includes:

  • 6 Decks of cards with a specific character (skunk, snake, bear, penguin, unicorn, zebra). Each deck has 30 word Cards to learn and memorize.
  • Picture Flashcards that correspond with the memory cards. They are read after completing a memory game of 10 words.
  • Story Books. Each book is read after completing all the cards in of one deck. The books use all of the 30 words learned in that deck of cards.

My daughters wanted to open the box up and try it out right away. We played this game 3-5 times a week! We enjoyed playing it together as when we are done I’m sure we will start over. My 5 year old is motivated to complete the games so that she can read the stories at the end.

The Reading Game

While using the game, I can see my daughter’s confidence in her reading skills increase. She looks forward to and enjoys reading the stories by herself. My 2 year old also gets to play with my help. She is getting familiar with the vocabulary words by repeating the words I read from the cards. It’s a great way to play and learn as a family.

If you have a beginner reader, I highly recommend this game! It is such a great way to learn new words, practice memory, and encourage reading independence.
