If you want to add some fun digital learning to your child’s day, let me tell you about Math Shed and Spelling Shed.
Spelling Shed and Math Shed are made available for parents, schools, and teachers of students from 1st-5th grade. It is a web-based program that allows kids to practice their spelling and math skills through playing games. In this program, students have unlimited access to the games and can easily switch between them.
Unlike other learning games, these allow kids to play individually, as a whole class, or with friends. Students can compete with their previous scores or with others online. This is really encouraging for competitive kids!
Additionally, parents and teachers can use a neat feature called the Teacher Hub. Where they can enjoy the benefits of setting up leagues of students, scheduling and tracking assignments, creating custom word lists, and the ability to review detailed reports.
In the Spelling Shed, students can pick a stage level to practice a spelling list or choose buzz words to create words from the letters provided. If a stage is selected, a bonus game option is available to play either Bee Keeper or Missing Word. Then the student selects their preferred difficulty level from EASY, MEDIUM, HARD, AND EXTREME and continues to play the game.
Although My daughter is reading at a kindergarten level, she still enjoys playing the Spelling Shed games. She likes to pick stage 1 & 2 EASY and competes with her scores. In the game, a word with a definition is displayed, the player remembers the word and must type it correctly. Isn’t that a neat way to work on memorization? She is excited to see how many words she can get right.
In the Math Shed, students practice math facts by playing games in one of these categories: Number Bonds, Time Tables, Powers of 10, Add & Subtract, and More. After choosing a category, the students select a subcategory and difficulty level as shown in the picture below. I love the wide range of levels and math functions available.
Spelling Shed and Math Shed are fantastic for kids in 1st-5th Grade! They are fun and have so much to offer. Whether kids are playing in leagues or alone, these games will help motivate them to practice. Kids can earn honey pots that they can use to upgrade their avatars and encourage them to continue working on their skills. Also, they can be conveniently played on different types of devices. They worked flawlessly on my phone, tablet and computer.
If you want a fun educational game (or two) for kids in the 1st-5th grade, I definitely would suggest Math Shed and Spelling Shed! I am a happy customer and I will continue to use these for my kids.
