14:6

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product from the Homeschool Review Crew.

14:6 – The Way from Scripture Memory Fellowship, makes it easy to memorize God’s Word.

We received this flip book and my daughter and I have been using it for the past few weeks to memorize verses.

14:6 – The Way provides a unique study of salvation where students can memorize up to 84 verses within 28 weeks and share the gospel with others.

It’s printed on thick and sturdy card stock pages. It is great for frequent use and more durable than standard books. The pages have bright and colorful backgrounds and text for organization and appearance. The color coding allows the students to pick their memorization level and is helpful for visual learning.

Levels or pace of memorization:

  • Green verses are for people memorizing 1 verse a week.
  • Green + Orange is for 2 verses per week.
  • Green + Orange + Brown are for people mastering 3 verses a week.

We chose to start with green and if we did well we would move up to the next level.

In this book, there are 28 weeks of memory challenges that are divided up into 7 units of 4 lessons.

The lessons answer the following questions:

  1. Who is God?
  2. What went wrong?
  3. What did God do?
  4. What did Jesus do?
  5. What is salvation?
  6. How do we respond?
  7. What happens next?

At the top of each page, readers can see the unit question, the lesson’s answer, and lesson icons that illustrate the memory verses. Then, the color-coded verses are displayed front and center, in a nice large font that’s easy to read. Under the memory verses, there is a nice thesis statement that summarizes the lesson, a place to record and grade your progress, and boxes to track where you shared God’s word.

After reading the verses a few times, we recite the verses to each other. If we can recite the verse without help we earn a gold mark. If we can recite the verse with help one time, we get a silver mark and there is a bronze category if we need help reciting two times. Now, I love the idea of tracking where you shared God’s word, but unfortunately, we didn’t use this feature. It does however plant the seed in our minds to share and reminds us that that’s what we should be doing.

Meaning

On the back there is a consider the meaning section. Here, there are questions that help families get an idea of the context and meditate on the verses that are being memorized. I found this section to be helpful and I enjoy thinking about and answering the questions.
